If you’re eager to try some of Chicago’s best dishes, here are a few that should not be missed.
Mouth Watering Barbecue Ribs
While most people think of the South as the best place for barbecue, Chicago should not be dismissed. The thriving barbecue scene must be tasted to be believed. We recommend Irving Park for a full slab of St-Louis-style ribs. The dry rub, apple, and oak flavors will leave your mouth watering for more. For an alternative barbecue experience, check out Lem’s Bar-B-Q. This restaurant is the oldest barbecue restaurant in town. The spicy sauce at Lem’s Bar-B-Q was invented in the 1940s and has been enjoyed for years.
World-Class Sushi
If you’ve never tried omakase sushi, make it happen in Chicago. Roughly translated, it means “chef’s choice” Just relax and let the chef carefully craft his or her specialty. Put on your favorite dress or suit and prepare to be amazed. At Katsu in West Rogers Park, you can enjoy one of the best omakase experiences available in all of the United States.
French Fries And Ice Cream
Don’t knock it until you try it. For a fine-dining take on the dish, stop by EL Ideas. Chef Phillip Foss originated the recipe after taking his two little girls out to a fast food restaurant, where he watched them dip french fries into their ice cream. Modified with modernistic, avant-garde style, the ice cream is even poached in liquid nitrogen so it doesn’t melt too fast. El Ideas is a reservation-only restaurant, so be sure to call in advance!
This Chicago food trend is insanely delicious and this restaurant is insanely popular for this and other cuisines… Here’s a sampling

If you want to try out this treat, call ahead to upscale restaurants like the Sun Wah so that you can ensure your duck is ready when you are.
An American Classic: Chicago Pizza
Pizza is a Chicago staple. With caramelized cheese and delectable crust, it’s one of the things that Chicago does best. For the best deep-dish pizza that Chicago is famous for, stop by Pequod’s Pizza on Clybourn Avenue. This local favorite is relatively unknown to tourists, so you will be able to enjoy your pizza like the locals without any distractions.
