Explore Amritsar
Amritsar is a city in the Indian state of Punjab and home to the spiritual seat of Sikh religion- the Harmandir Sahib (or the Golden Temple). The city also hosts the Akal Takht, the authoritative seat of warrior Khalsa sect. Amritsar is sadly also associated with a 100-year-old massacre at Jallianwala Bagh that later compounded to become the last nail in the coffin of British Rule in India. Fast forward to 2018, and you’ll find this city playing host to several holy temples, museums, historic monuments, a few forts and a mouth-watering list of traditional Punjabi cuisines.

The city’s numero uno attraction, Golden Temple attracts Sikh and Hindu followers from far and wide. This gold-topped temple is home to the sacred book of Sikhism called the Adi Granth and is situated next to a 16th century holy lake called Amrit Sarovar. The temple was founded by the 5th guru of Sikhism, Guru Arjan and had requested a Muslim saint to lay its foundation stone in 1589.
Akal Takht
The Akal Takht (or the throne of the Timeless One) is one of five seats of power in Sikhism. Located in complex of Golden Temple, it was built by Guru Hargobind as a place of justice and consideration and was chosen because he used to play here in his childhood.

My trip was planned perfectly, from flight to accommodations. I'll be visiting again in the Spring and using CheapOair to plan again. Very satisfied! - Steven Dec 12, 2024
My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport. I was hoping for the ability to watch the reservation price and adjust it as the trip got closer, but once I locked in my reservation, the price couldn’t be changed. Text messages from them were clear and kept me informed on the flight plan! I would rate this experience as very good. - Bette Dec 01, 2024
