Things to do in San Francisco
Golden Gate Bridge
Opened in 1937, Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge main span in the world until 1964. It spans the Golden Gate, which is a one-mile-wide strait between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This 4200 feet long bridge is a classic triumph of early 20th century mechanical engineering because its roadway’s weight is hung from two cables that are focused on the two main fixed towers, and span 80000 miles of wire in the main cables. The magnificence of this architectural masterclass was acknowledged by none other than Arthur Frommer who remarked that the Golden Gate Bridge is ‘possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed bridge in the world.’
Pier 39
Pier 39 is an excellent option for those interested in sightseeing, shopping and tasting some delicious seafood topped with a scenic waterfront in San Francisco. It is a shopping center built on a pier and features many posh shops, restaurants and street performances. One can also visit the Aquarium of the Bay and enjoy some virtual 3D rides before going to enjoy delightful views of the Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Fisherman's Wharf
Formerly known as the Little Italy of San Francisco, the Fisherman’s Wharf is a waterfront hotspot of posh shops and restaurants. It also boasts of several tourist magnets like Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf, the Musée Mécanique and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. One should not miss a visit to a decommissioned Second World War submarine called the USS Pampanito.

My trip was planned perfectly, from flight to accommodations. I'll be visiting again in the Spring and using CheapOair to plan again. Very satisfied! - Steven Dec 12, 2024
My first experience with CheapOair was very good! The reservations made to fly to Greece had smooth connections at each airport. I was hoping for the ability to watch the reservation price and adjust it as the trip got closer, but once I locked in my reservation, the price couldn’t be changed. Text messages from them were clear and kept me informed on the flight plan! I would rate this experience as very good. - Bette Dec 01, 2024
