Literally implying Saint Francis in Spanish, the city of San Francisco is the cultural, commercial and financial axis of Northern California in the US. It is picturesquely set along the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay amidst rolling hills and is hallmarked by the 1940s marvel called the Golden Gate Bridge. Other star highlights in the city include the Fisherman’s Wharf (home to Madame Tussauds San Francisco), Chinatown and a 1930s classic but equally horrendous Alcatraz Prison.
