Will’s Pub
Catch big names like Kool Keith as well as local hip hop, rock, and jazz acts. Will’s Pub has music nearly every night of the week, as well as trivia and other activities on off nights. Most nights have a modest cover of around $5, with a number of free events thrown in. Doors typically open around 9pm, but this varies with the show. Check the calendar for daily details.
Howl at the Moon
Dueling piano players perform covers of all of your favorite music at this awesome bar. Doors open at 7pm most nights; 6pm on Fridays and there is live music 7 days a week. Located on International Drive, this is a great place to land after enjoying a couple of cocktails along the way. Drink offers at Howl at the Moon include inventive cocktails and a range of craft beers from around the country, including several from Florida brewery Cigar City Brewing.
Backbooth
Backbooth holds 350 guests, making it a great mid-sized place to see local and national bands. The powerful sound system and high-quality lights are perfect for checking out live music. The back bar set up still allows you to enjoy a pub-like atmosphere. Ticket prices depend on the act and usually range from $8 to $12. Bands that play there include acts from the alternative and rock scenes, but other genres are welcome too. Watch their Facebook page for drink specials. They often offer free beer at midnight and $3 vodka cocktails.
Hard Rock Live
The Hard Rock Live is one of the more intimate places to catch national acts in Orlando. Choose lower balcony, upper balcony, tables, or general admission (Tip: If you choose general admission, head to the right side of the stage for the best view). Save money by hitting their website before the show and buying your tickets online. Because of tight security, the recommend arriving an hour early to get to your seat on time for the show. One downside when visiting this venue: cocktails can cost as much as $15. Ask for specials or have a drink at one of the many watering holes nearby.
Jazz Tastings
Jazz fans can get their fill with live music Wednesdays through Sundays. A large selection of fine wines makes this a great pick for a romantic and relaxing evening. Split a flatbread or tapa with a friend while you enjoy the tunes. The club also offers premium cigars to enjoy outside (whilst still enjoying the tunes). Most nights it’s free to enter. If you are heading to Jazz Tastings for a special performance, there is a $5 cover charge and a $15 minimum food or drink purchase per person. Their Sunday brunch is a smash hit with bottomless mimosas for $15!
