This is one of eight NCJW charitable thrift shops operating in the Los Angeles area. Created in 1924, the NCJW was originally founded to provide aid to newly arrived immigrants. The council continues to work with individuals of all faiths, nationalities and backgrounds. There are NCJW thrift shops across the USA, which provide funding for counseling hotlines and clothing giveaways for families in need.
Each shop features clothing for men, women and children. Furniture, household items, books and art can also be found. Society of St. Vincent De Paul
To support the important work that the Society of St. Vincent De Paul does within the community, donations come in on a daily basis. Once they have been sorted and cleaned, they are placed in the store for shoppers to enjoy. It is possible to find electronics, computer equipment and even donated automobiles for sale.
This non-profit thrift store bills itself as the largest of its kind in the Los Angeles area. It stocks everything from used refrigerators and stoves, to smaller finds like picture frames and books. These are just two of a chain of non-profit thrift stores dedicated to raising funds for patients with HIV and AIDS. Proceeds from these shops work to provide medical, educational and preventative services. Despite the seriousness of their cause, each of the Out of the Closet thrift stores is known for their fun shopping environment and eclectic selection. Shoppers will find clothing, art work, books, lamps and a vast array of donated first-quality items. The shop is located at 8224 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood.
UCLA Thrift Shop
This shop supports the UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary. Shoppers find everything from clothing, books and housewares to estate furniture.
