A Sport Enthusiast’s Guide to LA

Los Angeles is one of the most passionate cities in the world, and that passion extends to its sports teams. With so many different sporting events to choose from in LA, a sports lover can never get bored. Baseball

If you plan on visiting the city in the spring or summer, Los Angeles is home to two Major League Baseball teams. The Dodgers boast a team history that few other teams can compete with. A pilgrimage to Dodger Stadium to watch Clayton Kershaw, arguably the best pitcher in the game, is a must. After you’ve watched Kershaw throw another gem, head on over to Angels Stadium and watch up and coming superstar Mike Trout go all out on every play.

Basketball

When the baseball season ends, the city’s sports pulse beats in time with the Lakers and Clippers. The Lakers have boasted some of the greatest players the game has ever seen. Players like Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant will live on in Los Angeles history. The Clippers also call LA home, and they currently boast one of the best starting line-ups in the NBA. Make sure to head out to Staples Center and catch a game.

Football

Since 1995, LA has been missing America’s favorite sport. That all changes this year, as the St. Louis Rams have relocated to LA. Along with the move comes the number one pick from the NFL draft, Jared Goff. Goff and the rest of the young team will look to restore football glory to the City of Angels. You can catch a game at the Memorial Coliseum until their new stadium is finished.

Hockey

Hockey may not be the most popular game in the city, but the Kings sure know how to make it exciting. They have won the Stanley Cup, the NHL’s ultimate prize, twice in the last five years. The Kings also play at Staples Center, so make sure you check out a game if you love fast-paced, hard hitting action.

Play Ball in Venice Beach

The basketball courts in Venice Beach boast some of the best pick-up basketball games in the world. Whether you want to get in on the action and play or just watch some street hoops, this is the place to do it. The courts have been made famous in movies like American History X and White Men Can’t Jump. The best part is it’s completely free to play, so go test your skills against some of street-ball’s best.

Go Surfing and Skating

Maybe all that stuff isn’t your thing, or you’ve already done it all. There are so many other sporting events going on all over LA. From surfing competitions, to skate contests, there’s always something happening here. Malibu Beach has appropriately earned the nickname Surfrider Beach, since LA surfing culture was born right there. If you’re more into skating, then this city is definitely the place for you since skateboarding was invented and grown here.

Whatever sport you’re into, the City of Angels has you covered. So what are you waiting for, start planning your LA sporting adventure right now! Did we miss any must-do activities? Let us know in the comments!
