Best Places for Hiking and Camping in Boston

Boston is a major metropolitan city, so while there are parks within its city limits there may not be many locations for hiking and camping. But this doesn’t mean you won’t have any options for outdoor activities when in town. For the best experience, you can just take a short drive out of town to some amazingly scenic locations to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Boston Harbor Islands

If you’re looking for an opportunity to camp outside and view Boston’s skyline, then head over to the Harbor Islands (made up of Bumpkin Island, Grape Island, Lovells Island, and Peddocks Island) that are located just off Boston’s shores. Peddocks Island is the only one that has electricity and running water, so keep that in mind when planning a trip.

Cape Ann Camp Site

Located in Gloucester, Cape Ann has over 200 tent and trailer sites on its property. There are plenty of places to go on a hike or even catch a whale watching tour. This spot is popular with Boston area families during the summertime.
