The Beach

California’s Beach City, San Diego, is conveniently located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The City offers over 30 majestic beaches dotting the coastline. With mild temperatures and sunshine all year round there’s nothing more soothing and relaxing than enjoying a well-spent day at one of these beaches with your significant other or family or even enjoying one’s solitude. So, suit up, grab your sunscreen, beach towel, beach bag and enjoy at least one of the recommended free beaches below. (Be sure to the beach as early as possible to avoid the inevitable crowds.

Gaslamp Quarter

Originally built in the 1860s, the 16-block district in downtown is known as the historic heart of San Diego. Visitors can walk the streets like Wyatt Earp (the fearless and famous lawman) and immerse themselves into an interesting and colorful past and full their eyes with its architectural charm. One can enjoy the shops, restaurants, and nightclubs by themselves or on a guided tour.

Free Yoga Classes

If you are looking for a way to have your mind and body in check while on your vacation, then join in all the fun and laughter at one of San Diego’s FREE well-organized yoga classes:

Pacific Beach Yoga Meets at Palisades Park every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 am.

Sunset Cliffs Yoga Meets every Wednesday at 5:30 pm and Friday at 11:00 am (Enjoy the spectacular view while you work out).

Balboa Park Activity Center – Meets every Saturday at 9: 30 am.

Laughter Yoga – Every Wednesday at 11:00 am to 12 noon at the War Memorial Building at 3325 Zoo Boulevard, Room 2

Be sure to pack a towel or a mat and enjoy the experience as the instructor guides the group through a series of stretches, breathing, clapping and amusing chanting that leads to uncontrolled laughing, singing and general silliness, all ending in a laughter meditation circle. Though the classes are free, it would be a nice gesture to give a small donation if you wish.

Enjoy the irresistible outdoor charm at one of San Diego’s best parks. The options are endless, there are parks to suit everyone’s needs and are ideal for a wide range of recreational activities.

Mission Bay Park– The largest man-made aquatic park in the county.

La Jolla Cove Park– Get up close and personal to the seals and sea lions that sunbath on the rocky shores.

Coronado Tidelands Park– Be amazed by the magical view over the San Diego Bay at the Coronado Bridge and the San Diego skyline.

Balboa Park– Arguably the best park in San Diego, this list would not be complete without the incomparable Balboa Park. The 1200 acres of beautiful scenery offers eye-catching Spanish architecture, zoos, a plethora of museums, a concert hall, etc. With so much to offer in just one location, no wonder why it’s considered to be the equivalent to Central Park.

Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

This Park is anchored in the state’s first settlement area, Old Town. It’s known as the birthplace of California, owing to the fact that it was the state’s first settlement (a Spanish settlement built in 1769). It enlightens visitors about the history of early San Diego. So if you didn’t get a chance to do some research about the City prior to visiting, then this is a great way to get to know about the place you have traveled to. The whole ambiance: the atmosphere, the food, the music, the shops allows one to reconnect with the past and see San Diego for what it was a couple of years back.
