Whether you like straight spirits, expertly mixed cocktails, or cold craft brews, Orlando has plenty of bars to quench your thirst. Here are just a few great bars that you have to check out when you’re in town.
Teak Neighborhood Grill
This is the spot for beer fans and foodies. Teak features a number of craft beers, including a wide selection of local beers from Florida. To go with your brew, pick from appetizers, flatbreads, sandwiches, and entrées. Not a beer drinker? Peruse a Bloody Mary instead – they offer a number of inventive takes on the classic.
Sloppy Taco Palace
As befits one of the area’s prime dive bars, Sloppy Taco Palace is located in an unassuming strip mall. Once inside, enjoy cheap drinks, crispy fried tacos and, on several nights a week, rocking local music. Not up for a full meal? Recharge with a Frito Pie, available for $2 during their late-night happy hour.
The Matador
Red walls and antique velvet couches give The Matador an eclectic and inviting vibe. Cocktail lovers will find something to enjoy during the happy hour, which features unique cocktails designed in-house with top shelf spirits, offered at a reasonable $7 a pop. Wanna keep it simple? Buy the Blue Collar – a shot of Wild Turkey and a can of PBR to chase it. You’ll also love their pool tables and video games.
The Bullitt Bar
The exposed brick walls, naked lady wallpaper, and smoky air lend to a laid back and funky atmosphere at The Bullitt Bar. The bar attracts a large late-night crowd with regular local DJs. If you’re looking for something to do on a Sunday, they offer 2-for-1 drinks all day and $5 Patron!
The Caboose Bar
Unpretentious and relaxing, The Caboose Bar is a great place to grab a pitcher and watch the game. Every Friday, they offer an all-you-can-drink Bud Light special for only $5. There are periodic special events, such as burlesque shows from a local troupe every first Friday as well as live music.
Elixir
Situated in a historic building downtown, Elixir has managed to preserve the building’s charm while providing a modern and enjoyable atmosphere. This is a good place for high-end cocktails, craft beers, and special spirits. They have an extensive whiskey menu, with over 30 varieties available. The beer menu goes international, with representations from England, Austria, and even Iceland. A selection of appetizers and burgers lets you fill up to continue your crawl. Soccer fans will be glad to know that there’s always a match to catch on the venue’s large-screen TVs.
The Hideaway
The Hideaway is a casual sports bar with a surprisingly eclectic crowd. You can help yourself to full liquor as well as a wide selection of domestic and craft beers. Unlike many spots, they are happy to offer pitcher specials even on their specialty drafts. Play pool, watch a game on the big screen TV, or enjoy a little fresh air on the dog-friendly, spacious patio outside.
