Community Thrift Store
Since its inception in 1982, this non-profit group works with charities all over the Bay Area. They accept donations, sell the items and then distribute the proceeds. Independently run and non-discriminatory in concept, those who donate may even choose the charity that will profit from their donation. This shop features antiques, collectibles, and unusual items. Low prices and a steady stream of ever-changing merchandise draw loyal shoppers.
Wasteland
This consignment store is located in the Haight Street neighborhood. Much of its merchandise reflects the historic hippie origins of the community. There is vintage clothing and items labeled “vintage inspired.” You’ll also find trendy clothes like brassy ’80’s neon shirts and flashy ’70’s disco outfits. They stock a mix of contemporary clothing along with retro fashions, so take your time.
Crossroads Trading Company
This is a national chain whose roots are in the Bay Area. They run stores directly in the city, and more in the surrounding suburbs. Prices vary, but there are bargains to be found. Shoppers looking for brand name fashions will not be disappointed. Clothing is categorized carefully as well, giving you a chance to zero in on what you’ve come to buy.
