There are now over 1,100 tropical birds that live at Jungle Island. From aviaries where you can feed parrots to shows at the amphitheater, you can explore the wild world of the animal kingdom. Oleta River State Park
For a day of sightseeing and exercise, check out the mangroves and wetlands at Oleta River State Park. The park consists of 15 miles of biking trails. Canoes are also available for rent. From fish nurseries to native wildlife, Oleta River State Park offers an adventure into the natural side of Florida.
Miami Children’s Museum
If you enjoy educational experiences or want to beat the heat, check out the Miami Children’s Museum. In this miniature world, children can run banks, buy groceries and record music. Toddlers can enjoy playing in a sand castle, climbing a rock wall or splashing in the water. Young children will enjoy playing doctor in the replica hospital.
Crandon Park
This amusement center and garden space consist of two-miles of sandy beaches. On the interior, Crandon Park offers a tranquil lagoon. If you’re all swimmed out, the Crandon Park Amusement Center offers a concession stand, roller rink, vintage carousel and seahorse fountain. Afterward, you parents can unwind as you tour the fragrant gardens and arboretum.
Zoo Miami
Previously known as the Miami Metro Zoo, this zoo was founded in 1948. Today, it is one of the top open-air zoos in the world. There are more than 100 exhibits that include 500 animal species. The zoo is the site of the first captive birth of Komodo dragons. Also check out the camel rides, the Children’s Zoo Wacky Barn or the Samburu Giraffe Feeding Station.
