Frequently Asked Questions

What is Accrue Savings?

CheapOair has affiliated with Accrue Savings to help enable you to save up for your next trip over time in a dedicated savings account. You may earn rewards toward the cost of your trip:

  • CheapOair will contribute up to 10% toward your trip in the form of rewards.
  • Friends and family can also chip in along the way!

How does Accrue Savings work for CheapOair?

You'll connect a debit card or checking account and make deposits to save up for your trip. Contributions from CheapOair (in the form of “rewards”) or friends & family help you reach your goal and pay less overall.

Are there any fees for me to use Accrue?

Absolutely not! There are no fees or interest charges for using Accrue.

What kind of trips can I book with Accrue Savings?

Using Accrue, you can save up to book anything offered by CheapOair. No individual booking made using Accrue Savings may exceed $5,000.

How much of a benefit will I get by using Accrue for my CheapOair trip?

You will earn up to 10% in rewards that are applied toward your booking. For example, if you save $891, you will earn $99 in rewards, enabling you to purchase a $990 trip.

You are eligible to receive a 10% reward rate when you make your first deposit within 24 hours of opening your Accrue Savings account and make a subsequent deposit of any amount at least once every 30 days. You will be subject to a lower reward rate if these conditions do not apply.  The minimum reward rate available is 4%, and the maximum is 10%.

Rewards are earned incrementally as a percentage of each deposit based on your reward tier at that time. Rewards are rounded to the nearest cent when added to your account.

Do Accrue rewards apply to that booking or a future booking?

Accrue helps you pay less on the trip you are saving up for with rewards applied toward that booking. It does not function as “cash back” or a rebate. Rewards are loaded onto a debit card that you'll use to make your booking.

Can I withdraw the money that I've deposited into an Accrue account?

Yes, at any time with no penalties. You will only be able to withdraw the money you've deposited. You will not be able to withdraw rewards, which are only redeemable at the time you purchase your trip. Rewards will be forfeited if you close your account or withdraw your funds.

Is Accrue “Buy Now, Pay Later”?

No. You can think of Accrue as Save Now, Buy Later. You cannot create an Accrue account and make your booking at the same time. Accrue helps you budget for purchases — like a trip with CheapOair — by saving a little at a time and receiving rewards along the way. With Buy Now, Pay Later programs, you would begin a payment plan during checkout — with Accrue, you checkout using the money you've already saved up, plus rewards!

How long does saving for my trip with Accrue Savings take?

Accrue Savings offers complete flexibility allowing you to save on your own schedule — weeks, months, or longer. Based on your preferences, configure auto-deposits by amount and on weekly, biweekly, or monthly intervals.

Will creating an Accrue account trigger a credit check?

No.

How do I pay using Accrue Savings at checkout?

Open your Accrue Savings dashboard (by visiting https://www.accruesavings.com/dashboard).

  • After logging in, you should see a “Get your card” button at the top of your screen.
  • Once you tap that button, you will see the total amount you can spend using your card (there is a buffer built-in for taxes and incidentals. If this applies, that amount will be charged to you after your booking).
  • Once you agree, you will be prompted to enter a one-time code sent to your phone.
  • Once you enter the code, a virtual debit card will be displayed on your device.
  • Then, you can proceed to the CheapOair App or to https://www.cheapoair.com/ to complete your booking.
  • You can copy and paste the details of your virtual debit card during checkout.

Do I need a promo code if I am checking out using Accrue?

No. The discount comes in the form of “rewards” that will already be part of your balance.

What will happen if I have less in my Accrue balance than the cost of my trip?

When you are ready to book your trip, you will authorize a one-time-transfer limit to cover costs that exceed your savings and rewards (for example, if a $400 trip costs $436 with tax). Your funding method for Accrue (a checking account or debit card) will be charged this difference. This is mainly for the purpose of covering the cost of tax. If the final total of the booking greatly exceeds the balance, the transaction will be declined.

What happens if I have leftover funds after purchasing?

You can either book another trip (or add-on for the same trip) or request any remaining funds in your account be returned to you. You can always start saving up for another trip if you'd like. You can email support@accruesavings.com with any questions!

When do rewards expire?

Bookings must be made 18 months from the first reward or deposit, in order to redeem rewards. Any unused rewards will expire on that date.
