Visit the Godiva Chocolate Cafe at Harrods CheapOair Staff October 23, 2012 general New Christmas Collection Getting Announced Soon! There are only two of these cafes on the planet – one in Beijing and the other in London. And although the London venue is one of more than 30 different restaurants and eateries located within the world famous Harrods department store, for fans of premium Belgian chocolate, the Godiva Cafe is a destination definitely worth a visit. The collaboration of three master chocolate makers: Markus Bohr (Executive Pastry Chef for Harrods), Thierry Muret (Executive Chef Chocolatier for Godiva) and David Funaro (Global Chocolatier for Godiva), the cafe has loads of decadent truffles, melting fondues and rich chocolate drinks along with sandwiches and savories to precede, accompany or following your chocolate treats. You can even get an afternoon tea here featuring a selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, pastries, chocolate and plain scones served with clotted cream and preserves. The tea costs around £30 (that’s roughly $48 and as a good a deal as any decent afternoon tea in London). Not quite luxe enough for you? The cafe also offers Champagne, Harrods brand beer, Martini Choctails, all sorts of soft drinks, a full range of coffee beverages and, of course, hot chocolate. Perhaps most irresistibly indulgent is the Hot Chocolixir: three layers of warm chocolate ganache, steamed milk and milk foam served “dark, milk or white.” Situated on the second floor of Harrods, the spacious cafe wows guests with its luxurious marble bar where all the amazing Godiva truffles and bonbons are on display along with a fine patisserie and taps flowing with molten chocolate for delicious dipping. Chocolate covered strawberries anyone? The interiors blend modern and Belgian Art Nouveau influences to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while soft, comfy chairs and leather banquettes make the cafe a smart place to relax after or amid an epic Harrods shopping spree. Any time of the year is a great time to visit this mocha mecca, but a taste of Yuletide deliciousness, keep the eighth of November in mind. That’s when Godiva will reveal its new collection for Christmas 2012. The collection will be available for purchase until December 31st. With everything from chocolate snowmen and reindeer and super cute advent calendars to Royal Swarovski premium gift boxes to browse, checking out the cafe isn’t merely about taking a chocolaty break for yourself – it might also prove to be a great opportunity for marking off a few names from your Christmas shopping list.
