AA and BA receive U.S. approval to join forces

American Airlines and British Airways received the news they has hoped for Tuesday, as the United States approved an alliance between the two carriers.

Both AA and BA will now be able to expand their trans-Atlantic partnership and compete with other airlines on an international level.

American Airlines, the nation's second largest carrier,
and British Airways, Europe’s third largest, were given the green light that will legally allow them to work more closely on such items as setting prices, selling tickets and scheduling international flights via Oneworld alliance.

Although the deal includes both Finnair and Royal Jordanian Airlines, for now the alliance will only be using American, British Airways and Spanish carrier Iberia.
