UPDATE: Spirit Airlines Computers Crash Causing Thanksgiving Travel Delays CheapOair Staff November 24, 2010 general UPDATE 3PM ET: Spirit Airlines’ website is now live again. Talk about bad timing. On the busiest travel day of the year, low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines‘ computers have crashed. What does this mean if you’re flying with Spirit today? Well obviously a few delays. However Spirit says they will have the computers up and running again shortly. In the meantime, Spirit is checking passengers in manually and says with additional staff already working today due to it being the day before Thanksgiving, customers should not see that long of a delay. Spirit told CNN that their system is undergoing “routine maintenance” and will be back to normal within two hours. CNN affiliate WXYZ is reporting extra long lines for Spirit customers at terminals in Detroit Metro Airport. We will update this post once Spirit systems are back up.
