While a lot of work still needs to be done before the merger between United and Continental Airlines is completed, today actually marks the "last day" for Continental Airlines as tomorrow the merger becomes official.

Starting October 1, all planes for the two airlines will start receiving a fresh coast of paint to match the new theme for United (see image above). Workers for the newly combined airlines will also start showing off new attire at airports nationwide.

Meanwhile the "Continental" name will slowly fade into aviation history alongside such companies as Pan Am and Northwest.
