U.S. Travel Association Asks First Checked Bag Fee be Removed CheapOair Staff March 17, 2011 general USTA Wants Bag Fee Removed The U.S. Travel Association (USTA) asked for airlines to remove the first checked bag fee Wednesday. The USTA believes the measure will reduce the number of carry-on bags, which will lead to faster times through security. In a survey conducted last December by the USTA and Consensus Researchers, travelers said they’d take two to three additional vacations if there weren’t so many hassles. The extra travel would add up to an estimated $85 billion for the U.S. Other requests made Wednesday were to remove multiple TSA screening for low-risk, international arrivals. The TSA was also asked to take full control of checkpoints to eliminate any conflicts. Source: Dallas News
