MacBook Air allowed to stay in bag during airport security screening

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced this week that passengers traveling with the 11.6-inch MacBook Air will be allowed to go through security without having to remove it from their carry-on bags for screening.

The MacBook Air is being categorized as a smaller electronic gadget due to its size (similar to an iPhone or Blackberry). That means the laptop can remain placed inside luggage and bags when walking through X-ray machines at airports throughout the United States.

This is great news for business travelers and frequent flyers that own the device, as we all know how annoying it is to show up at the airport, remove your shoes, take off your belt, empty your pockets of any coins and electronic devices and then remove your laptop from your bag.

The iPad was also given clearance to pass through security without the need to remove it from your bag. Here's hoping the TSA will start allowing other devices to remain in your bag.
