The Cliffs of Moher with O’Brien’s Tower

While they are Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction, the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher should be on every Emerald Isle loving traveler’s list.

Rising 702 feet above the Atlantic Ocean, the Cliffs of Moher are located on the western seaboard of County Clare.

Standing strong at the head of the cliffs is O’Brien’s Tower, which just went under renovations and is now open again to the public.

On a clear day visitors can see such Irish destinations as the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, the Twelve Bens, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South.

Your best bet for a visit to the Cliffs of Moher is to land down in Shannon International Airport and drive one hour northwest. Trust me once you arrive, the long journey will have been worth it.

The Cliffs of Moher is currently in the running to be chosen as one of the “New7Wonders” in 2011.
