Bruges, Belgium

Located in the northwest section of Belgium, the city of Bruges is a truly charming travel destination.

While the spotlight of Hollywood was pointed towards Bruges thanks to the 2008 Colin Farrell flick In Bruges, this city is still an extremely underrated European destination when compared to the likes of Paris, London and Dublin.

Simply walking down the street of the largest and capital city of the province of Flanders, Bruges offers a lot for tourists that are looking for a more laid back and quieter Belgian experience compared to its popular neighbor Brussels.

Some attractions that should be on most visitor’s checklist to Bruges include the Choco-Story museum and Friet museum. The former covers the history of Belgian chocolate while the latter is the world’s only museum dedicated to french fries.

In addition, just taking a leisurely stroll past the many amazing old fashion homes and canals are both great ways to spend your time while gallivanting through this lazy Belgian town.

One downside to Bruges is their less than stellar weather. Winter months can be quite cold for a western European destination and it rains often so bring an umbrella.

But no matter what Mother Nature’s forecast is when you visit, nothing can dampen your spirits once you arrive in Bruges.

Pack your bags and get going to Belgium! Chances are before or after you visit Bruges, you will wind up in the country’s capital city. Check out the CheapOair Brussels Travel Guide.
