Travel Shot: Central Park in New York City CheapOair Staff August 8, 2011 general A picturesque scene in the middle of Manhattan This beautiful shot was captured inside New York City’s Central Park. Originally opened in 1857, the park was subsequently expanded several times and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963. Luring more than 35 million visitors each year, Central Park is by far the most visited urban park in the United States. Stretching from West 59th Street all the way up to West 110th Street, the park is 2.5 miles long and a half-mile wide. Central Park is large enough to house the 6.5 acre Central Park Zoo, home to penguins, snow leopards, and even a couple of Polar Bears, comfortably. The park has become engrained in the culture of New York City and is a must-see during any visit to the Big Apple.
