The “Book of Mormon” will open in Denver August 14

The “Book of Mormon,” the smash-hit Broadway musical has wowed visitors arriving on flights to New York City since first opening in March of 2011. The brainchild of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show has left audiences in stitches and critics raving.

After selling out show after show in New York City and racking up nine Tony Awards in the process, the irreverent production is set to launch a US Tour at the end of the summer.

Unsurprisingly, shows at Mormon’s first stop in Denver sold out rather quickly this weekend. The real surprise was just how quickly. In just under five hours, tickets for all Denver productions (scheduled to run from August 14 through September 2) were sold out.

Tickets went on sale at 10 AM Sunday and were completely gone by 2:35 PM, according to the Denver Post. The paper noted that many fans began camping out as early as 9 PM Saturday to ensure they’d get a ticket.

After a brief stint in Denver, the show will open the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles on September 5.
