Spirit Airlines strike is looming

There is still no deal signed yet between low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines and its pilots as the threat of a strike looms. Disgruntled workers could walk off the job Saturday morning if a new contract is not signed.

Pilots are demanding that the airline known for pre-reclined seats and carry-on baggage fees fork over more cash. The union wants a new contract that would provide pilots with salaries similar to competitors JetBlue and AirTran.

The pilots insist that their demands are not outrageous and they are not looking to put Spirit in a financial funk over the pay increase. Although Spirit said earlier this week that they would continue to fly their 150 flights as normal through the strike, the airline is not currently selling tickets for this weekend.

I found out on the news 3 hrs before i was to fly home to Boston from Orlando, Fl that my flight was canceled. Luckily I was able to get a flight on Southwest later in the day. I had a layover in baltimore and then THAT flight was delayed an hr. I made it to Boston that night just in time to make the last bus home! I will never fly Spirit again…I was so stressed by the time I got home. Luckily my sister advanced me the money to buy another ticket home…now I just want my refund so I can pay her back!25 to check you b. $ death They also nickel and dime you bag and $3.00 for a can of coke. That’s outrageous!!
