Singapore Airlines A380
Singapore Airlines' A380 LA-Tokyo launch delayed

Singapore Airlines announced Thursday it will delay the launch of the Airbus 380 jumbojet with service from Los Angeles and Tokyo due to the events currently happening in Japan.

Demand is down dramatically since the earthquake and tsunami took place. In a statement, a representative from Singapore Airlines said: "In view of the developments in
Japan, Singapore Airlines is postponing the introduction of Airbus A380
services on flights SQ11 and SQ12 between Singapore and Los Angeles via
Tokyo Narita until further notice."

Singapore Airlines had planned to debut the A380 route later this month.  The flights will continue to take place with a Boeing 747-400 for the time being, in other words once demand for travel to Japan's capital city increases.
