Yellowstone National Park is apparently sitting on top of a "supervolcano" according to scientists reports and it may erupt for the first time in 600,000 years.

The volcano has been rising since 2004 and according to scientists at the University of Utah, two-thirds of the United States would be unfit to live in and millions  of residents would have to move elsewhere.

“It’s an extraordinary uplift, because it covers such a large
area and the rates are so high,” said the University of Utah’s Bob
Smith, an expert in Yellowstone’s volcanic activity.

Now before you go running down the street screaming the world is about to end. Smith later adds that the probability of an eruption is highly unlikely due to the reservoir being far below the surface. Smith did believe at first there was a possibility that it could erupt.
