Ripley’s London Celebrates World Circus Day CheapOair Staff April 16, 2013 general Celebrate World Circus Day at Ripley’s! Believe it or not April 20th is World Circus Day. And as the place where the world’s first modern circus was presented back in 1768, London’s as apt as any destination to celebrate this family friendly event. Located at Piccadilly Circus – the ever buzzing epicenter of London – Ripley’s Believe It or Not! will bring the festivities to the street with live performers entertaining folks outside this popular attraction. On hand throughout the day will be a variety of entertainers including contortionist Chris Cross, knife juggler Pete Dobbing, escapologist Rob Roy Collins, former Cirque de Soleil acrobat Ruben Dot Dot Dot, sword swallower Tom Balmont, “human blockhead” Nick Malinovsky and stuntman/magician Spikey Will. In addition to the frenzy of free outdoor activities on Saturday the 20th, there’ll be plenty to see inside Ripley’s as well. A visit here offers families a chance to be amazed and ponder the improbable – from a four-meter long model of Tower Bridge made from matchsticks to a meteorite, an animated T Rex and more! Keeping the London 2012 legacy alive, Ripley’s is home to the single largest collection of Olympic Torches too, with 32 in total including the very first from 1936 in Berlin, Mohamed Ali’s signed torch from 1996 and a London 2012 torch signed by gold medalist Laura Trott. Ripley’s London is open every day of the year from 10 a.m. to midnight (last entry is 10:30 p.m.) and is the largest of all 33 Ripley’s Believe It or Not! attractions across the globe.
