Passport Fees to Go Up Next Week CheapOair Staff July 7, 2010 general Passport fees go up significantly Soon it’ll cost more to aply for a new U.S. passport or renew an old one – a move that the public and some lawmakers are not pleased about. Beginning next Tuesday, adults applying for their first passport will have to pay $135 – a 35 percent increase from the present $100 fee. Those who want to add more visa pages to their passport book can do so now for free, however they must pay $82 under the new fee schedule. The renewal fee for passports will increase to $110 from $75. There’s also a new fee for those who would like to formally renounce U.S. citizenship. While it currently cost nothing, the price will be $450 beginning Tuesday. Source::CNN
