Obama is the first sitting president to visit Maine since Howard

Obama’s 2010 summer retreat has been the top pick for families like the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Morgans. The town and its surrounding area have long had the reputation of being a place where well-known visitors relax during the summer, while having their privacy respected.

The President is the most recent influential visitor to travel to Maine to experience the refreshingly cool breeze. When he arrives Friday for a three-day visit, he’ll be the first sitting president to visit Mount Desert Island in a century. The last was William Howard.

The area is used to having rich and famous visitors in its presence though as it has a long history of business barons, political power brokers, and famous actors. The Maine population doesn’t predict that it’ll be very flustered by Obama’s visit based on this, but is excited about the first family’s visit.
