New Orleans – Five Years Later

The White House announced Friday that President Barack Obama would travel to New Orleans at the end of the month to mark the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

While details of Obama's plans are still being worked out according to spokesman Robert Gibbs, the president will arrive to the Crescent City on Sunday August 29th.

Obama will speak at Xavier University of Louisiana about the still ongoing recovery process and what else is needed to assist residents in and around New Orleans.

More than 1,800 people died during Katrina, with an estimated 270,000 more displaced from their homes.
