Disney World announced this week it will open a new resort starting in May 2012. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will feature roughly 2,000 rooms, including 865 standard hotel rooms and 1,120 suites.

Disney noted the suites will fall under the “value” category with prices being affordable as the theme park noticed extended families travel together to Disney World.

The property will launch in phases, with the
first phase of the hotel being “Finding Nemo” themed suites, with “Lion King” themed suites to follow. The final phase will be “Little Mermaid” theme suites, which are scheduled to open in December 2012.

Construction on the new resort will provide the city of Orlando with 800 new jobs.
