The Neon Boneyard in downtown Vegas

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman attended a ground-breaking ceremony yesterday at the Neon Boneyard Museum in downtown Las Vegas.

The museum, with its vast collection of discarded neon signs, offers visitors a unique look at Sin City history. A brand new visitor center will be the final piece in place at the museum which has been 20 years in the making.

Organizers expect the center to draw many more tourists to the boneyard by this time next year. Construction of the visitor’s center is being funded as part of downtown’s ongoing revitalization process.
