Lufthansa announced Thursday plans to offer the Airbus A380 superjumbo jet on flights from Frankfurt to San Francisco beginning in May.

Starting May 10 the German carrier will offer daily flights which include 526 passengers – 420 in economy, 98 in business and eight in first class.

This will be the first airline to offer A380 service to and from San Francisco International Airport according to Lufthansa. 

The airline already offers A380 service to Beijing, Johannesburg and Tokyo from Frankfurt Airport with plans to debut flights to New York next month.
