Lufthansa Starts Frankfurt-Tokyo A380 Service CheapOair Staff June 14, 2010 general Lufthansa starts A380 service Lufthansa took to the sky with 520 passengers and 22 crew members Friday for the inaugural Frankfurt to Tokyo Narita flight aboard their new A380 plane. Currently being offered three days a week, the new route will become daily come August 4th when Lufthansa receives a second A380. A third A380 is set to debut August 25th with service from Frankfurt to Beijing, while a fourth mega bird will launch October 25th with Frankfurt to Johannesburg. Both planes will fly three-times daily. The A380 is equipped with 526 seats, eight first class and 98 business class on the upper deck and 420 economy on the lower deck. Lufthansa said that so far demand has been strong for a chance to fly on the enormous aircraft. Lufthansa Chief Pilot and COO Juergen Raps told ATW Daily News last week onboard the A380 that, "The [FRA-NRT] flight is almost fully booked through September with very strong bookings in first class."
