Passengers arriving on flights to London during the 2012 Olympic Games can expect to encounter heavy traffic at Heathrow International Airport.

However, airport officials actually expect the busiest day in the hub’s history the day after the Closing Ceremonies.

On that day, Heathrow will open a temporary Olympics Terminal which will help to expedite Olympic athletes’ and coaches’ departures from London.

Around 10,000 athletes and support staff will pass through the terminal which will be accessible only to those with special clearance.

Officials say despite the need for clearance, security checks will remain in place.
