Las Vegas Ski Resort Wins Approval for Major Expansion CheapOair Staff July 19, 2011 general The resort will add four new trails for next season Here’s a cool thought on this hot summer day. The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort has won initial federal approval for a plan to expand its ski area to at least five times its current size. The ruling means the resort can begin developing the 70 acres it currently occupies. Owners have plans to add four new trails, install higher-capacity ski lifts, and upgrade lodging conditions over the next few seasons. The decision is also a major step toward realizing the resort’s master plan that would expand its reach to nearly 500 acres within the next decade. That plan is currently pending an environmental impact assessment. Source: Las Vegas Review Journal
