After his previous two bouts drew thousands of boxing fans to Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Manny Pacquiao will make his Las Vegas return on May 7 in a showdown with Shane Mosely for the WBO welterweight championship.

Over the years Pacquiao has become one of boxing’s biggest draws, but lately Vegas has been unable to cash in on his mass appeal.

Since his last fight there in 2009, Sin City has been overlooked as promoters turned to bigger venues, booking Pacquiao in Arlington twice while flirting with a match in New York City’s Yankee Stadium.

However, it looks like Las Vegas is finally primed to cash in on the Pacquiao brand once again.

Three hours after tickets for the fight went on sale Monday, nearly 16,000 had been sold.

That means just a precious few seats remain open at the MGM Grand which will host the event.

Remaining tickets are in the $300 or higher range, with the most expensive seats selling for $1,000.
