United-Continental merger is set to be completed in 2010

The United Airlines and Continental Airlines merger process seems to be rolling along full steam ahead with news today that a federal judge said he will not block the marriage between the two carriers on antitrust grounds.

The merger of United and Continental, which would make it the world's largest airline, had some people concerned, with a group of San Francisco based travelers looking to sue. The concerned customers claimed the deal would raise airfares. They asked a judge to step in and block the deal from proceeding. 

Bu the judge did not see any cause for concern and ruled against the travelers on Monday.  The Justic Department already stated they have no antitrust objections to the deal.
