JetBlue and South African Airways Form Partnership CheapOair Staff May 7, 2010 general JetBlue to team with South African Airways Starting May 12, JetBlue and South African Airways will start allowing passengers to travel on both carriers with the same ticket. In a deal similar to the one worked out with both American Airlines and Aer Lingus, this partnership will benefit both airlines by keeping costs down and expanding their services. Under the new deal, the 40 international destinations that South African Airways flies to will become available to people that “jet” on the U.S. based low-cost carrier. South African Airways customers, who were only previously only available to fly into and out of New York City and Washington D.C., can now connect to JetBlue’s routes throughout the U.S., Caribbean and South America. Passengers aboard both carrier will be able to check their bags to their final destination and obtain a boarding pass for both airlines’ flights upon check-in with JetBlue in the United States and in South Africa with South African Airways.
