Icelandair Enters Codehare with SAS; Increases & Adds Routes CheapOair Staff November 4, 2010 general Icelandair announced this week that it has agreed to enter a codeshare with SAS Scandinavian Airlines. The new deal would provide improved connections to and from Iceland with reciprocal frequent flyer perks as well. The codeshare agreement goes into effect November 8 and includes routes beyond SAS' hubs of Copenhagen and Stockholm to Berlin, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Milan, Munich, Vilnius, Zurich and Warsaw. Early next year, Icelandair will become a partner of SAS' frequent flyer program EuroBonus, while SAS becomes a partner of Icelandair's Saga Club. Icelandair also announced plans to expand its summer schedule with more flights from Minneapolis/St. Paul airport via a longer flight season. Seasonal service will launch May 10, 2011 and run through October 24, 2011 with scheduled service up to seven flights per week. Finally, Icelandair will begin seasonal service from Washington Dulles International Airport with four flights a week starting May 17, 2011 through September 13, 2011. Washington, D.C. will be the latest city added to the 2011 Icelandair schedule with a total of eight North American gateways and over 20 destinations in Europe. Earlier this year Icelandair announced service to a host of new destinations in Europe. The 2011 network will feature more departures from North America, with the largest schedule in its 73 year history.
