Hong Kong International Airport by night
Officials at Hong Kong International Airport recently unveiled a 20 year master plan for the hub’s development.
The plan consists of two options: one that includes the addition of a third runway and one that keeps the number of runways at two while expanding terminal facilities.
In 2010, the airport operated at 90% of its capacity, welcoming 51 million passengers. Adding a third runway would increase the capacity to 97 million.
The airport is currently weighing its options during a three month consultation process.
