The DHS will replace the terror alert system next week

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced today that the color-coded terror alert system put in place under President Bush will be replaced next week.

The new, more simplistic system will have only two threat levels: elevated and imminent. Unlike the current system, the new warnings will also come with expiration dates.

Napolitano added that new warnings could be sent out to the public through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
