Booths appear vintage but are modern using internet, not landlines

Google is launching Google Voice integration with Gmail, which will give users the ability to make and receive phone calls from their inboxes. Phone calls throughout the U.S. and Canada are free, allowing Google Chat to become a fair competitor to Skype.

Google will be placing red, vintage-looking phone booths around colleges and airports through the country as part of its campaign to raise awareness for Google Voice.

The phone booths are not just for show either, you can actually make calls from them, and while the telephones appear old-school, they are highly modern, running off of internet rather than land lines.

Calls from the booths, even international ones, are free of charge.
