If you've never been to Denver, chances are, you will find enough to do in the city. From quirky boutique shops in the downtown area to picturesque views from top attractions, Denver is worth a cheap last minute ticket to explore all it has to offer. But, if Denver is a city you know very well, you may want to go beyond borders to explore the inviting suburbs. Luckily, it’s easy to enjoy any of these trips outside of Denver. 
 

Mount Evans
If you're going to make a day trip out of Denver, make it worthwhile. Go big and head to the highest paved auto road in North America. If you didn't know, the road to Mount Evans steeps to an almost 15,000 foot incline. The official Mount Evans Byway is only 60 miles away from Denver, .which makes it an easy drive. You'll go through five climate zones before you soar to the peak. Leave your fear of heights at home, because the views are breathtaking and make you feel like you're on top of the world.

Rocky Mountain National Park
Those who enjoy Coor's Light beer are familiar with the catchphrase "Taste the Rockies." You can get your own taste of the Rockies when in Denver by visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park. This massive park has a plethora of activities to be enjoyed, like park trails, streams, scenic views and action sports activities. Something unique you can do is to search for the extensive wildlife, which include bighorn sheep and black bears.  This is the perfect trip for a family who wants to enjoy it all. 
Royal Gorge & Cañon City
It seems like Colorado is the state of outdoor activities and impressive titles.  Did you know that the Royal George and Cañon City Park is home to the world's highest suspension bridge? What we like most about this beautiful town is not only its natural beauty, but the wonders around it. There is a scenic and historic railroad; using tracks laid over a century ago. Now it is a link to showcase a gorgeous view just miles away from Denver. You can enjoy different settings like a Gourmet Lunch or a Murder Mystery Train.
Summit County & Vail / Beaver Creek
If there is one thing Colorado is known for, it’s for its spectacular skiing opportunity. There is worldwide hype about Summit County & Vail / Beaver Creek area, and for good reason.  Little did most visitors know that you can even enjoy the area during the summer season? Imagine zip lining to the backdrop of gorgeous peaks? Or perhaps you want to take a scenic gondola ride up to the top of the mountain where you can have a summer BBQ. Other adventurous activities include hiking and mountain biking. Best of all, it is less than 2 hours away from Denver.
