Family Travel: Pie Eating Fun in Orlando CheapOair Staff April 19, 2012 general We Could All Use Some Pie! Attention pie lovers! If your family is looking for some tasty and fun entertainment, book a flight to Orlando, Florida this April 27th-29th for two fun events: the 11th annual American Pie Council’s Great American Pie Festival and their 18th annual National Pie Championship. The American Pie Council prides itself on “preserving America’s pie heritage and promoting our love affair with pies.” The competition takes place over three days and gives amateur and professional bakers a chance at yummy delicious pie-glory. Taking place at the beautiful Caribe Royale, all-suite hotel and convention center, the competition is open to large professional bakers, independent business owners, amateurs and even high-school students who can compete in an on-site bake off on Saturday (advanced registration is required). At the festival in Celebration, FL, which runs April 28th & 29th, visitors can browse through hundreds of baking vendors, mingle with fellow pie lovers, and of course taste the yummy pies! For just $10/adults and $5/kids, partake in the never-ending pie buffet, where you can enjoy as much pie, toppings, ice cream and drinks as you can handle from some of the festival’s many sponsors including Baker’s Square, Bonert’s Slice of Pie, and more. In addition to tasting all the goodness, kids will love the Crisco Kids Creation Station for hands on activities such as pie decorating, pie eating, pie making, bounce houses and pie themed crafts. The festival is hosting additional activities including baking demonstrations, entertainment, and of course, a pie eating contest (if you have saved any room!). Looking for a deal? Special room rates are still available at the Caribe Royale hotel, where your family can enjoy one and two bedroom suites, on-site restaurants, lush grounds, a rejuvenating pool, and close proximity to all Orlando has to offer. The Orlando Convention Aid has partnered with the American Pie Council by offering guests and visitors discount and concierge services for booking other Orlando entertainment options, including Disneyworld tickets.
