Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?  Moms across the globe have banded together in the grass roots campaign of "children must eat breakfast."  Personally, I am not a huge breakfast fan.  Unless of course I am eating out and don't have to do the cooking!  Here's a roundup of some of the best places to snag a morning meal and fuel up for your day adventuring on Kauai. 

 

Ono Family Restaurant

The Ono Family has been cooking up amazing breakfast dishes including eggs Canterbury, the Garden Patch, and amazing omelets for years.  But it is their banana, coconut, and macadamia-nut pancakes that has my family drooling.  Sometimes, family members will snap a picture of themselves eating at Ono's and text it out to invoke continental US jealousy.  The pancakes are that good.  Lunch and dinner are served in case you are wondering.  Arrive early for breakfast as this little restaurant fills up quickly!

Eggberts Kauai Family Specialty Restaurant

4-484 Kuhio Hwy

Kapaa, HI 96746

Just up the road from Ono, Eggberts offers a similar menu, including their own version of macadamia nut pancakes and a few fun cakes like Oreo pancakes and the like.  Portions at Eggberts are massive, so plan on splitting unless you have triplet linebackers.

Kalaheo Coffee Co. & Cafe

2-2436 Kaumualii Hwy

Kalaheo, HI 96741

As the name would suggest, Kalaheo Coffee Co. is a great place to enjoy a morning cup of joe.  The menu features a wide selection of pastries, muffins, bagels, waffles, and egg dishes to round out your coffee experience.  Breakfast and dinner are also served (including a kid's menu).

This coffee shop boasts four Kauai locations to serve you including one in Hanalei, Kapaa, Lihue, and Koloa.  Coffee is locally sourced and brewed.  Be sure to try the house specialty, the Aloha Bar, a shortbread cookie crust topped with toasted coconut, macadamia nuts, and chocolate chips.  The Kauai waffle and Bali Hai Burrito are also excellent choices.  (Visit one of their seven Southern California stores to rekindle your Hawaiian vacation memories!)
