Family Travel: It's Halloween Time at Disneyland. Photo credit: Disney Resort
As a SoCal native, there are very few opportunities to truly experience the wonder of autumn. Although the temperate climate does shift slightly (we had a lovely 86 degree evening tonight), and rare leaf peeping chances are available, one of the most trusted barometers for the changing season in my family surprisingly begins at Disneyland. Starting in September, Disneyland begins its annual tradition of #HalloweenTime; although the transformation is not exactly natural, one might say it marvels nature with its display of color, beauty, and that touch of Disney magic. As a reminder: you can experience this all yourself with a cheap airline ticket from CheapOair!

Halloween Time Decor
From September 13th to October 31st, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are decked to the nines in autumn and Halloween decor. The fall color palate is abundant in every added decoration, from garlands in windows, to the hundreds of individually carved (and unique) pumpkins that line Main Street, U.S.A.. Giant Mickey and Pals pumpkin sculptures greet you upon arrival and get you quickly immersed in the autumn theme, no matter what the weather. I always love Disney's attention to detail, so be sure to look for signs of the harvest in nearly every nook and cranny of the park.

Step into the Season
If eating a tasty pumpkin beignet from New Orleans Square's Mint Julep Bar doesn't get you in the mood for autumn, what will?  Pumpkin flavored treats are available at numerous Disneyland Resort restaurants and carts, including the re-opening Market House, which will now feature Starbucks Coffee (pumpkin spice latte, anyone?). Head over to Big Thunder Ranch for some autumn themed fun including pumpkin carving, crafts for the kids, and plenty of photo opportunities. And I am a sucker for good photo opportunities; fall colors are great compliments to family photos.

Mickey's Halloween Party
Our family is thrilled to be joining in the fun of Mickey's Halloween Party this year as a guest of Disney Parks, and I'll be sharing all about it next month after our trick or treating Halloween fun. From dance parties with Disney characters and spooky themed rides to makeovers and a pirate's booty of candy, it is going to be epic. Tickets to Mickey's Halloween Party are available now.
