FAA Disables Emergency Oxygen in Aircraft Restrooms CheapOair Staff March 11, 2011 general Airplane Restrooms Remove Oxygen Tanks Airlines were ordered by the federal government last month to remove all emergency oxygen tanks in bathrooms on board in an attempt to reduce a safety and security vulnerability as reported by MSNBC. What this means is when a cabin experiences a loss of pressure, only those sitting at their seats will have oxygen supplied to them. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), over 6,000 U.S. aircrafts had their restrooms’ oxygen generators immobilized by March 4th. The FAA did say they are working on a new solution to provide oxygen to those using the facilities.
