CheapOair’s Top Travel Trends for Q1 of 2013 CheapOair Staff May 3, 2013 general Month after month, year after year, people struggle to pick the best destination for their next vacation. Should we go international or keep it in the country this time? Is there a place where I can see the trends in travel this year? Maybe one destination has exceptional rates right now. Luckily, CheapOair has published our quarterly Top Travel Trends highlighting the best spots right now. We even include the change in percentage in ticket prices for said destinations. Our top domestic destinations in Q1 of 2013 are: Los Angeles Orlando Las Vegas Ft. Lauderdale Miami Phoenix Tampa San Francisco Denver Dallas Ticket prices for Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco have peeked a bit while flights to Tampa, Denver, and Orlando have dropped at least 1% since this time last year. Our international destinations are even more exciting. The top 10 for the first quarter are as follows: Cancun Manila (Philippines) Mexico City Guadalajara (Mexico) Bangkok Toronto San Jose Kingston (Jamaica) Montego Bay (Jamaica) London One of the most significant increases across all mediums was the price of a ticket to London, increasing a solid 10% since Q1 of 2012. Other increases can be found on flights to Jamaica. Kingston and Montego Bay saw a jump in price by 4.6% and 3.8%, respectively. It seems though, that now is the time to book your ticket to Bangkok with ticket prices falling almost 5% in the last year. Travel Trends also breaks down the frequency of flights by age group. The youngest destinations were Los Angeles, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Cancun, Toronto, and Manila. It is interesting to note, however, that our oldest demographic, 45, overlaps with the youngest, 18-24, in four out of six destinations. Las Vegas, Toronto and Manila actually appear in all age breakdowns for the quarter. I hope this sheds some light on where you might want to take your next vacation.
