Cathay Pacific Cuts Flights to Japan Over Fukushima Nuclear Scare CheapOair Staff March 29, 2011 general Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's main airline, announced Tuesday plans to reduce flights to and from Japan temporarily due to the ongoing health concerns over radiation leaks at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The airline will only offer four daily flights to Tokyo from Hong Kong, down from the normal seven and just two of its seven daily flights from Hong Kong to Tokyo effective April 15. Furthermore, flights to and from Osaka and Nagoya were suspended. The decision to reduce flights comes as travelers continue to avoid trips to Japan over radiation fears from the power plant that was damaged badly during the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
